Locals say that once you visit the Florida Keys you get the ‘Key’s Disease.’ You just can’t wait to go back and I wrote about that feeling.
Back to the Island:
It’s about getting back to your essence-to a good place in your life and relationships.
Boo Hoo:
I was thinking about single parents, especially single Moms who raised wonderful daughters, turning little girls into beautiful young ladies, and sacrificing so much to do it.”
Broken Love Songs:
This is a traditional blues song that sings about lost love and life.
Fly Away:
It’s a good old fashioned country love song. Its finding love and the uplifting feeling that goes with it.
Cloudy Moon:
I wrote this on my birthday on June 5, looking at the Super moon. I was inspired by Plato who said that ‘Divine madness comes from above.’ I really love how Michele Benson sings it.
I’m Going Fishing:
Some say this song reminds them of the Kinks. It’s a nod to our wonderful environment and the great efforts of our fishermen to keep it that way. What’s more beautiful than our oceans and waters?
I Surrender:
It’s not about giving up but giving room in your life to empowerment by releasing your ego. It’s the recognition of a higher power than your self.
I’m Going Home:
Simply, a song for our troops in far off lands. I’m always thinking of those men and women who sacrifice so much for us.
Ray of Hope:
When a very close friend of mine committed suicide I felt the need to write about it. It’s vital that people know and use the Suicide Prevention Hot Line. It saves lives.
Forgiveness:
It’s the hardest thing to give-especially to yourself. You cannot forgive anybody else until you forgive yourself. Forgiving those who have hurt us is a true act of love.
I wanted to share one of the best kept secrets for those who have waited until after Christmas to get that perfect gift for that guitar player or acoustic instrument collector in your life. Perhaps you are still pondering that special gift that will change any guitarist’s life forever.
Recently I had the amazing opportunity to record with Andy Falco (Infamous String Dusters), his brother Pat Falco, Chris Marshak (Steve Windwood), Peter Levin( Gregg Allman) and Joey Williams (The Blind Boys) at Waters Music Recording Studios in Hoboken NJ . I will tell you more of that recording session as the songs we recorded mature. During that said recording session, I had an epiphany. Yes, a sudden leap of understanding especially through an ordinary but striking occurrence. This all happened while watching and listening to Andy Falco record his guitar parts on his D1A Collings.
One of those secrets is how Andy Falco gets some of his great acoustic sounds. The fact is that he is one of, if not the most incredible shredding acoustic guitarists on the planet. On top of all of his talent, when you add his D1A Collings guitar, amazing things begin to happen. I am using my Collings guitar (pictured) as a model image for my latest oil painting project. (Don’t worry, it is not normally in the sun in my art studio).
My good friend, and undeniably one of Pittsburgh’s best guitarists, Frank Soriano, has been telling me about his Collings for years. Yes, it takes me a long time to understand some things but once I put my Collings in my hands, the clouds parted and now I can’t stop playing my D1A Collings guitar.
